The Lyme Multiplex PCR-based diagnostic test forBorrelia burgdorferi, performed directly on a clinical specimen. The combination of the following three steps imparts very high specificity and sensitivity:
- Hybridization/Selection
- Amplification of the specific DNA (genomic and plasmid)
- Detection of B. burgdorferi-specific amplified DNA fragments by dot-blot assay using B. burgdorferi specific probes.
